The Qatari photographer Ali Saifaldeen won first place in the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA), in the face photography category, for his photograph of a gorilla's face in the rain.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ali Saifaldeen said that he anticipated winning this contest, which brings together an elite group of photographers from worldwide, and they participate in a variety of images in the axis of photographing faces, adding that he was keen to participate in the contest with the best photos he took in Uganda photographing the face of a gorilla with its eyes closed at an open area in the rain.
He added that winning this contest is considered the culmination of his efforts in capturing photos of the wildlife, pointing out that he has been tirelessly working to capture the photo of a gorilla in Uganda by climbing the mountains for roughly one hour and a half. He confirmed that capturing wildlife photos is extremely challenging because the trips take numerous days to reach these areas and the job requires accurate high skills.
