Qatar Youth Forum starts on Tuesday

The third Qatar Youth Forum will begin this Tuesday, under the patronage of His Excellency (H.E.) Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali.

The two-day event will take place at Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena. The Ministry of Culture and Sports held today a press conference to discuss the details of the event. Director of youth affairs at the ministry Hussein Rashid Al Kubaisi said that the forum seeks to enhance communication and mutual dialogue between Qatari youth and those working in the youth sector, as it seeks to provide an outlet for direct interaction and expression, and to explore issues important to them.

He then discussed some of the most important outputs reached by the forum in its first and second editions, including the announcement of the media center for youth, the establishment of a youth advisory committee for H.E. the Minister of Culture and Sports, the establishment of a program to rehabilitate leaders of youth centers, developing youth activities and initiatives that promote national values, supporting working women and empowering it in the field of entrepreneurship, enhancing confidence in Qatar's vision as a targeted strategic approach to support sustainable development and national culture and motivate young people to participate actively in activities.

Responding to a question by the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the interest of the ministry in promoting the use of elections to choose leadership youth positions in a number of centers, Al Kubaisi said that the ministry have had that experience in three youth centers and are still studying its impact. He maintained however that the ministry is giving the elections idea serious thought and is currently considering all the details.

This year's forum will see the introduction of a number of new ideas and initiatives. One of them will see a number of private and governmental institutions and companies in the country are expected to present a list containing the most prominent challenges in various fields, for which an innovative and unconventional solution has not been found, which will launch a three-day competition for the participating youth to find solutions to those problems.

The ministry coordinated with the partners from the specialised bodies and institutions in the field of youth to participate in the forum, in addition to organising meetings with youth through focus rings aimed at listening to them and discussing their future plans, as the third edition will be marked with more partnerships between the ministry and other entities concerned with youth.
