The State of Qatar, represented by the National Committee for Traffic Safety (NCTS), has made a major international achievement in the field of traffic safety by winning the best international project award given by the London-based Chartered Institute of Highway and Transportation (CIHT), for its project: "Road Safety and Sustainable Transport Management in Qatar"

Secretary of NCTS Brigadier Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Al Maliki received the award which was handed by CIHT President Matthew Lugg.

Qatar's eligibility of this award comes in the light of its success in applying global standards and a scientific understanding of the requirements for reducing the traffic problems identified by the United Nations as a disaster that threatens modern societies.
