The Qatar University’s Scientific Accounting Association (SAA) is organising a series of workshops and courses in November, designed to contribute to the improvement in performance level of accountants and auditors in the country.
“The courses come within the university’s policy to provide various services to internal and external audiences by offering high-quality academic services to meet the different needs of the community,” SSA chair and associate dean for student affairs at the College of Business and Economics, Dr Rajab Abdulla al-Esmail said.
The courses will be held from November 1 to 5, at the College of Business and Economics. “They are designed to give an undertaking of the nature and type of accounting systems and concepts. Emphasis will be on the basic elements such as an accounting information system, the accounting cycle, analysing and preparing financial statements,” he said.
The SAA is also offering a course on corporate governance. “It will give participants an opportunity to learn about the methods of corporate governance, the results of good practices of corporate governance in the world, the responsibility and the role of board of directors, board chairs, CEOs and CFOs, rules of conduct, transparency, and professional ethics,” Dr al-Esmail said.
Two other courses being offered deals with the recent amendments in the International Accounting Standards and with accounting information system applications using the QUICK BOOK software.
