Qatar University (QU) has been ranked number one in the Arab region, according to Round University Rankings (RUR) published recently.

The university also ranked 360th worldwide, attaining the Bronze League in the overall rankings, and 13th worldwide on the International Diversity indicator.

The rankings agency is based in Moscow and is supported by data produced and provided by the Institutional Profiles database by Thomson Reuters.

The rankings measure performance of 700 leading world universities by 20 unique indicators and four key areas of university activities — teaching, research, international diversity, financial sustainability.

The Bronze League is part of a classified system comprising 6 leagues adopted by the RUR. The Bronze classification embraces universities ranked 301-400.

To be counted as a part of the league, the university should get into the 3rd quartile on main RUR indicators and into the 2nd quartile in International Diversity and Financial Sustainability groups.

Dr Mazen Hasna, VP and Chief Academic Officer of QU, said: “QU has been advancing well in all rankings over the past few years, and in this particular case, we are proud of our position that witnessed substantial improvement over last year.

While QU is improving in almost all aspects related to the indicators of this ranking, our organised data reporting and understanding of different rankings have added to our improvement. We are happy with this news and look forward to improving our positioning in the international arena.” (Source / Image)
