Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is starting a regional campaign on Sunday to promote Qatar as the region’s Eid destination in preparation for the coming Eid Festival. “We are going to launch a regional campaign on Sunday across all platforms including television, radio, online and outdoor advertisement,” said Hend Zainal, Director for Marketing and Public Relations at QTA. For the second edition of the festival, QTA has prepared more events to provide residents and tourists fun-filled experiences this coming Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha 2013 which will start on August 8. Some of the activities would include theatre plays, presentations of cartoon characters and personalities, and games for all ages. Fees for the events would range from QR5, 10 to 15 except for the circus pegged up to QR150. New events also include activities at the Lusail shooting range and paragliding. QTA said that there will be a corner for reading, drawing and colouring under the supervision of tourism officials. Visitors can buy food items in restaurants inside the entertainment city. They can also shop for products from China, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and other countries. Perfumes, clothes, goods and accessories will be available in 150 stores in the 15,000-square metre fully air-conditioned facility. A number of travel packages would also be started to attract more tourists from neighbouring countries for the Eid celebration. The packages will be a combination of air ticket, hotel and tours in cooperation with Qatar Airways, hotels and travel agencies. Meanwhile, a Qatari heritage corner will be providing traditional foods for the guests. QTA officials also said that the hall will be decorated from the interior with flags, balloons and cartoon characters in conformity with the vision of government authorities. Separate programmes and games are expected to be held outside the Doha Exhibition Centre. The festival, which caters to all ages, will open on the first day of Eid Al Fitr in shopping centres, DEC, Souq Waqif, Katara and other locations outside Doha such as Aqua Park, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum and Al Dosari Garden. The main highlight of the activities is the Entertainment City which will open from the first day of Eid Al Fitr at a 15,000sqm area at Doha Exhibition Centre. It will last until September 15.
