After the grand success of the 2014 Qatar Open - Youth Public Speaking Championship held in November, Qatar Toastmasters Club is gearing up for the next edition of their annual speech contest for youth, an exciting event highly regarded by Qatar’s high school student community for the last 17 years.

“The contest is open to anyone between 13 to 18 years of age, and this year due to popular demand the online registration desk closed months ahead of the preliminary round,” notes Nevine Kamel, the Chief Coordinator of the event, and VP Membership of the club. She added, “Those who cannot participate this time should get ready for the 19th Qatar Open in 2016.”

Qatar Toastmasters is one of the longest running toastmaster clubs in Qatar, affiliated with Toastmasters International, a leading global non-profit educational organization whose mission is to help people of all ages develop their communication and leadership skills. Qatar Toastmasters Club President, Rukhsana Khan said, “Our club’s tagline for this year is When you give…you get much more, which reflects in our untiring efforts to offer this exciting speaking platform for the benefit of the youth of Qatar. At the heart of the championship is Toastmasters’ goal of developing and enhancing human potential. Our goal is aligned with the human development and social development pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. This year the Qatar Open will be 18 years old, a coming of age for this prestigious event and a major milestone for the club.”

The prelims and semi-finals will be held in Birla Public School on Friday 27th March and Friday 17th April. The Grand Finale will be on Friday 8th May at the College of North Atlantic – Qatar. A number of independent schools have come forward to participate this year for the first time, as well as many leading international schools and community schools, where the Qatar Open is already a well known event in the annual calendar.

Khan added “We are privileged to be supported by generous corporate sponsors for this unique event. They recognize the value in encouraging the nation’s youth to develop their talents in the areas of communication and leadership. Led by our Platinum Sponsor Vodafone Qatar, our sponsors also include Silver Sponsor Qatar Luxury Company, Bronze Sponsors, ApplusVelosi, Doha Bank, Intercol Dyarco, Intertec, Jungle Zone, Qatar Kentz, 3M and Rumaillah Group, plus Support Sponsors Amadeus, Qatar-UAE Exchange, QBake and Dandy. Our Official Media Partner is Gulf Times and our Venue Partners are CNA-Q, Birla Public School and Doha College. Of course we are also extremely grateful to I Love Qatar for their wholehearted support. It is so encouraging for everyone involved that we have such solid support from the business and education communities. Our sponsors’ commitment to social responsibility means a lot to us and to the youngsters taking part.” For more information on the club and their events visit www.qatartoastmasters.net.
