Qatar's Ministry of Labour will publish the names of the companies violating the Gulf state's employment laws, daily newspaper The Peninsula reported. “New rules for inspection are being prepared and it will be announced soon. Once the new rules are enforced, the names of erring companies will be disclosed” said Mohammad Ali Al Meer, assistant director of the inspection department, Ministry of Labour. The inspection department detected 134 violations of labour law last year. Between the most common violations are hiring workers without valid work permits from the government's recruitment department. Some companies also gave false information and are not providing necessary documents to inspectors, or in some cases are stopping inspectors from checking their premises. According to Al Meer, a company was found hiding the death of a worker while on site to avoid contractual obligations, while five companies had been referred to public prosecution for tampering with workers’ salary lists last year.
