Qatar is marking the National Human Rights Day on November 11 with tremendous achievements to showcase at the local and international levels, said an official statement.
The statement said that the country has set up numerous organisations and institutions that promote basic human rights, freedom, justice and equality.
In a press briefing to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Ali bin Sumaikh Al Merri, Secretary-general of National Human Right Committee (NHRC), said Qatar has given the greatest importance to human rights. This was followed by formation of several offices for the rights of all segments of society. “Some of these offices are NHRC, Human Right Department both at the Interior and Foreign Ministries, National Office for Combating Trafficking in Humans, Arab Democracy Foundation, Qatari House among others.
