The Ministry of Labour is drafting a new law on occupational health and safety, a senior official has said. Hussain Al Mulla, undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour and head of the Health and Occupational Safety Committee said the committee has already started work on the proposed law and the executive regulations based on a Cabinet decision. Once the draft law is ready, it will be presented by the Minister of Labour to the Cabinet for fapproval, according to the regular procedures. The Health and Occupational Safety Committee was set up on the basis of the Cabinet decision and includes representatives from different ministries, Qatar Chamber and the private sector. There is a sub committee that conducted several technical surveys and reviewed legal documents from different countries.The law will be comprehensive and will cover different aspects such as health, security and safety of all segments, including families.
