H.E. Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti submitted Qatar's first application for membership of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the upcoming Council session within Category C for the election to be held during the ICAO Assembly in September. This came during a meeting between H.E. the Minister of Transport and Communications and the ICAO Secretary General. The meeting reviewed Qatar-ICAO relations in the civil aviation industry and means of further enhancing them. It also discussed aviation security and safety in the region, stressing its importance for maintaining highest efficiency levels. H.E. Qatar's Ambassador to Canada Saud bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud and H.E. Chairman of Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey attended the meeting.
