DOHA: Qatar has reportedly offered Manchester United’s American owners – the Glazers - a £1.5bn-plus amount in a new takeover bid, a newspaper report said yesterday. The report was picked by Aljazeera TV Channel. According to the report, the deal could be clinched by early next week. The American owners could be open to doing business, despite past refusals, Daily Mirror said in a report. If the deal falls through, this could be the third major takeover by Qatar following highly-publicised purchase of Spanish club Malaga and French giants Paris St Germain. The Mirror report said that a high-level delegation from Qatar “will be in Manchester on Monday” in a bid to conclude the deal. THE PENINSULA
