Qatar sends second shipment of medicines to Pakistan to combat COVID-19 pandemic

The second shipment of medical aid sent by the State of Qatar, through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), arrived in the sisterly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in support of the efforts made by that country to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The shipment includes 3.4 tons of medical aid, which is a supplement to a previous batch sent by QFDD, which included 50 oxygen devices and medicines to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

The shipment was received at Karachi Airport by a number of members of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Pakistan, and officials from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari stressed, in a statement today, the importance of this assistance to complement the great efforts made by the State of Qatar to combat the repercussions of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has had a major impact on the world and created many difficulties at all levels, saying:

"Based on the common international responsibility, the State of Qatar is at the forefront to contribute to the process of confronting this pandemic and addressing it."

He also stressed the effective role played by the State of Qatar, under its wise leadership, in assisting brotherly and friendly countries and its effective contribution to helping the affected countries to stand again from the effects of the pandemic, limit its spread and prevent it.

For his part, H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Than, affirmed that out of its humanitarian duty and in view of the distinguished fraternal relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar has been keen from the beginning to provide assistance to the Pakistani government in order to support its efforts to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19), and to protect the brotherly Pakistani people from this pandemic.

He added:

"This is not the first time that the State of Qatar has provided aid to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as the government and people of Qatar have stood alongside the Pakistani government and its people in natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, stressing that the State of Qatar will spare no effort to continuously send aid to friendly and brotherly countries all over the world until this epidemic ends."

H.E. the Ambassador also highlighted the role played by the State of Qatar in helping brotherly and friendly countries since the beginning of the pandemic to face its repercussions and mitigate its spread, stressing the permanent solidarity and cooperation between the two brotherly countries, the strengthening and enhancement of the deep and distinguished relations and the close ties between them.
