Qatar sending two planeloads of relief to Philippines

http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/4161/oixc.jpg Under the directives of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar will today send two consignments of emergency aid to the typhoon-affected areas of the Philippines. Two planes carrying 80 tonnes of aid are scheduled to fly from Doha to The Philippines today, Qatar News Agency reported yesterday, quoting Dr Ahmed Al Meraikhi, Director, International Development, at the Foreign Ministry. The shipments will contain first aid, food items, tents, clothes, and blankets, among other items. Meanwhile, the Qatar Red Crescent in collaboration with Philippines Red Cross launched a campaign to raise $2m to support people hit by Typhoon Haiyan.
