Qatar’s population has crossed 1.5 million to breach the 1.56 million-mark, figures released by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) until November 30 this year show. And the influx of foreign workers continues to be large despite some analysts talking of a recessionary trend having set in, in the local job market. More than 28,000 new arrivals were recorded in the month of October this year alone. Men continue to outnumber women in the country. The male population in October was estimated at a high of 1.18 million as against the number of females at a low of a little more than 355,500. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=December2008&file=Local_News200812064918.xml
