The Hamad International Airport, currently under development at an estimated cost of $15.5bn, will feature two 100-room luxury transit hotels and a range of leisure facilities. Qatar Airways First Class and Business Class passengers as well as hotel guests will have access to resort quality facilities that include two squash courts, a 25-metre-long swimming pool and five-star spa for passengers to relax while in transit. The hotel will aimed at people in transit through Doha who are keen to catch up on a few hours’ sleep. Hamad International Airport will also be home to the Jetway project, a mobile hotel being designed for the private owner of an airstrip by architect Margot Krasojevic. The hotel will aimed at people in transit through Doha who are keen to catch up on a few hours’ sleep. The opening of the new airport was delayed at the last minute in April this year after the multi-billion dollar project failed to meet the newly-introduced safety and security requirements of Qatar’s Civil Defence Department.
