The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has formally announced yesterday its hosting of the Qatar Motor Show 2011 — the first motor show in Qatar to be held that will be equipped with international standards. Ahmed Al Nuaimi, QTA chairman, and Sheikh Al Hussain Bin Ali bin Ahmed Al Thani, CEO of Q.Media, jointly announced this during a press conference at the Doha Exhibitions Centre where they also signed the partnership agreement of the much awaited show for car enthusiasts in the country and other visitors from the Gulf region. Under the patronage of H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, QTA will partner with Q.media Events and GL Events which are both well known on the global motor show scene. The show will take place from January 26-29, 2011 at the Doha Exhibitions Centre. The show will kick off with an international convention, featuring top figures in the automotive scene who will speak about environmentally-friendly cars and future trends in the industry. The premier worldwide appearance of concept cars, super cars and futuristic models from the most renowned style centers and car manufacturers will be shown along with platform for the latest car models, commercial vehicles and sports utility vehicles coming on the market. “Qatar has emerged as a leading destination in the Gulf region for international exhibitions, conferences and special events,” said Ahmed Al Nuaimi. He added that the country is fast becoming leading places to enjoy sports because of its significant investments to sports infrastructure that made an impact on the motor sports scene with our nighttime Moto GrandPrix and championship rally team. Sheikh Al Hussain said they are proud to bring such premiere car show to Doha. “Since 2004, Q.media has served as Qatar’s most innovative and efficient media leader for positioning Qatar to the world,” he said. The open landscape surrounding the Doha Exhibitions Centre will be transformed to serve as demonstration areas for off-road, freestyle, motor cross and drifting courses as well as test driving sessions of the latest car and SUV models. Spectators will also be able to enjoy professional driving tips with demos from leading experts. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=February2010&file=Local_News201002222823.xml
