Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre (QRSC) recently took delivery of 3 high-end virtual reality surgical simulators. Laparoscopy simulators allow surgeons to be trained on a virtual patient in minimal invasive surgery. With 6 more machines to come in the following years, this is the first step in establishing the region’s largest surgical simulation facility. Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre is an initiative from QSTP (Qatar Science & Technology Park) and seeks to become a focal point for international expertise in robotic surgery. It will develop three core activities: demonstration of surgical technologies, training of medical and non-medical staff and technology development. The Centre will combine surgical simulation with other methodologies like animal lab and surgical observation to deliver a diverse range of training programmes. QRSC will train surgeons, nurses and technical support teams as well as hospital management and researchers in robotic surgery. QNA
