Qatar Petroleum and its partners announced a significant gas condensate discovery in South Africa

Qatar Petroleum and its partners, led by Total, announced a significant gas condensate discovery in the Brulpadda prospe Block 11B/12B in the Outeniqua Basin, 175 kilometers off the southern coast of South Africa, said a press release from Qatar Petroleum.

Commenting on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al­Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President & Petroleum said: “We are pleased to announce the Brulpadda discovery as the first discovery in Qatar Petroleum’s internatio ventures."

This achievement is an important milestone that will enable Qatar Petroleum to grow and expand its international footprint.

His Excellency Mr. Al­Kaabi added: “I would like to congratulate our partners, and to thank Total for the outstanding performa this important discovery.”

This discovery has opened up a new play in South Africa where Qatar Petroleum and its partners are well positioned to test o on the same block. Block 11B/12B covers an area of 19,000 square kilometers, with water depths ranging from 200 to 1,800 meters. It operates a 45% working interest, alongside Qatar Petroleum (25%), CNR International (20%) and Main Street (10%).
