Before we dive into the answering the question of how many doodles Google has dedicated to Qatar, it's important to understand what a Google 'doodle' actually is. Till yesterday, I, myself, didn't know that the images we often see dancing in and around Google were called and why they were there. So, first things first. Let's talk about the Google doodle and then we'll discuss how many Google doodles there have been for Qatar.
A google doodle is basically a fun, often unexpected and, at times, spur-of-the-moment variations or changes that the Google logo undergoes to celebrate world events, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and often the lives of world-renowned scientists, pioneers and artists.
Just before the company, Google, became incorporated, its founders, Larry and Sergey toyed around with the Google logo to show they were attending the Burning Man festival and would be out of the office. They put a drawing of a stick figure behind the second ‘o’ in Google, and made it live. People loved it.
In 2000, the founders asked their intern, Dennis Hwang (who is currently the webmaster) to design a Google doodle for Bastille Day (France’s National Day celebrated on 14 July every year). Google users loved the doodle and Dennis became Google’s chief doodler. Since then there have been more than 2,000 Google doodles with the Qatar National Day 2018 doodle being the latest one!
Now, that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get to answering the real question.

Qatar celebrated its 47th National Day yesterday with fervour and it seems that the whole world also celebrated with us. How, you ask?
I needed to find some information, logged into my laptop and went straight to Google.
Lo and behold. What do I see?
A Google doodle marking Qatar National Day 2018. The doodle depicting Qatar’s flag swaying an arch complete with an image of the rising sun in the background was beautiful and it felt good to know that the whole world would get to know it’s Qatar National Day and celebrate with us.
If you clicked on the doodle, it took you straight to the Google search of Qatar and its National Day.
You could click on a number of videos or articles telling you all about Qatar and how the National Day was being celebrated all over the country.
Yes, there have. There have been two. One was on 18 December 2013 and
the second one was on 18 December 2015.
Let’s now see when the next Qatar National Day Google doodle will be!
Actually, yes it has. When FIFA selected Qatar as the host of the FIFA World Cup 2022, it was given a special Google doodle on 3 December 2010.
