And yet, at the same time, such an event offers opportunities for all to have lots of fun, to celebrate, and share the joy. A lot of events have already been scheduled around Doha to make this special day a memorable one, with people of all ages and nationalities getting excited and ready to celebrate in different ways. Many of you decorate your cars to make your vehicles stand out from all the others, and some companies in Doha even offer a customized car decoration service. Prices start from QR 1,200 to QR 2,200 depending on the type and size of the design.

Things to keep in mind

Here are some regulations you must follow should you plan to decorate your car for Qatar National Day.

  • Tenting the front and back glasses of vehicles or the side glass near the driver’s seat is banned.
  • Dancing between cars, thus hindering traffic flow is not allowed.
  • Applying spray paint to other cars or pedestrians or engaging in stunt shows using vehicles is prohibited.
  • Do not put the Qatari flag in a way that obscures the back or front of the vehicle because this can confuse other motorists and cause accidents.
  • Do not completely change the colour of the car.
  • Number plates should not be concealed or covered.

The national flag of Qatar has a great prominence, especially during patriotic celebrations. The opening ceremony of Qatar National Day begins every year with the raising of the flag. Many commercial buildings in Doha are adorned with giant national flags one or two weeks before National Day, and the flag is also very evident as a motif in the ‘branding’ or decoration of cars with companies like Shalan Advertising in Doha able to ‘brand’ your car in accordance with the above regulations.

Respect The Flag!

Showing disrespect to the Qatar national flag by any means will attract a jail term of six months and a fine of QR 100, 000.

Where to find a flag

Many popular shops in Qatar sell the Qatari flag, and you’ll probably find one for sale at your local grocery store. However, if you want customized, top quality giant flags or accessories, get in touch with Doha based companies that sell online, such as Look or the Krom Group.

Designers are working around the clock to deliver clothes ahead of Qatar National Day, and the suppliers of T-shirts, caps, wristbands, and mufflers are having a busy time to meet the demand of the customers by offering them customized designs. Again, the Qatar flag is the main component in the designs, with maroon and white being the dominant colors used. Caps and wristbands have become very popular in the last couple of years because of their relatively low price.

Where to find them
