Qatar Museums has announced tours for the month of February as part of Menthaar, a year-long programme that introduces its Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family members to projects in Qatar that are working towards building a sustainable future.

Menthaar, meaning to take a closer look in Arabic, affords the opportunity to learn about Qatar’s heritage, culture, and environment through a series of tours, workshops, webinars, and talks.

Aisha Al Khater, Deputy CEO of Museum Affairs at Qatar Museums, said: “Menthaar is a newly launched programme that invites Culture Pass and Culture Pass Plus members to learn more about the exciting projects across Doha that are contributing to Qatar’s overall sustainability strategy to secure a greener future. We encourage our valued members to sign up to one or more of these offerings to explore more of Qatar’s sustainable initiatives.”

Upcoming Menthaar events include: A tour of the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Museum – one of the world’s largest private museums – on 6 February from 11 am to 2 pm and 22 February from 2 pm to 5 pm. The tour will offer visitors a glimpse into the history of the Qatari people, of Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani and his family, and beyond. Throughout the years, Sheikh Faisal has gathered objects that show an authentic depiction of Qatar's lifestyle. Additionally, Culture Pass members will witness Qatar's transformation into a modern nation after the oil discovery with the vintage car collection, including unique examples of cars customized for the harsh desert environment, and vehicles driven by Sheikh Faisal and his family

On 11 February from 4 pm to 5 pm, Culture Pass members are invited to attend a tour of Education City Golf Club (ECGC), a landmark project of Qatar Foundation. Culture Pass members will see the entire golf club. Its facilities include two restaurants, three golf courses, and two practice areas. ECGC’s Center of Excellence Academy is one of the most advanced facilities in the world to learn golf.

Bird Watching Activity (Qatar Natural History Group Birdwatching)

19 February from 7 am – 9 am

Qatar is an amazing place to observe more than 300 species of birds that have been recorded on the peninsula. The country is on the path of one of the great migratory flyways, where birds from central Europe and Asia move to and from Africa, during spring and autumn. The tour will begin at Al Wakrah where members can explore the beach and mangrove area to see the waders (waterbirds), then walk through the public park to see some of the passerines.

All events and tours are open to Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family members only.
