Organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in cooperation with Fira Qatar, the Qatar Motor Show (QMS) concluded its eighth edition at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) following five days of exciting events. This year QMS featured a total of 187 cars from different categories including classic cars, sports cars, luxury cars and executive cars from key manufacturers.

Held under the theme “Driving to Innovation,” QMS witnessed great public turnout as 25,000 families and car enthusiasts visited the exhibition to learn about the latest trends and new launches in the industry. QMS focused on enriching content and creating a unique experience for car enthusiasts in Qatar.

Mr. Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions at QTA, said: "QMS has developed significantly this year with a wider scope to include various awareness and artistic campaigns in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Traffic Department. The participation of Mawater Center has added great value as well.” He added: We continue to develop all local events and exhibitions in addition to bringing international events to Qatar to achieve the objectives of the next chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy (QNTSS)."

Ahmed Almulla, Chief Operating Officer Entertainment at Elan Events, said: “QMS presented a wide variety of exhibits, events and services, which reflected positively on the overall exhibition's content. We are grateful for QTA’s trust and for its support to all private sector companies working in the sector. Our participation reinforces our ability to position Qatar as a convenient business events destination.”

QMS included 37 pavilions in all, comprising of manufacturers, local dealers, local car accessories shops, special pavilions for QTA in participation with MoI, the Traffic Department, Mowasalat, Qatar Insurance Group and Arab Motors.

QMS witnessed 14 local and regional reveals of the latest 2019 models and showcased numerous limited edition and unique cars.

Participating brands included BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, Chevrolet, Maxus, MG, Mitsubishi Motors, Harley-Davidson, Jaguar, Land Rover, Genesis, ZX Auto, Borgward , Universal Motors (Lotus), Crystal Car, Auto Stacker, Kracher, Car Care Center, Breu, Top Performance, A-1 Automotive, My Tyre, Q-tire, Titanium, Al Jaber Car Care Center, Four Stroke and Pegasus. In addition, Al Fardan had special pavilion featuring a range of classic cars and car accessories from from Nasser Bin Khaled Group.

As part of its efforts to reinforce its community engagement and develop tourism products and experiences that stem from the Qatari culture and heritage, QTA had collaborated with Mawater Center to launch a special pavilion showcasing 87 classic and modified cars ranging between pickup trucks, modified classic cars, new modified cars, modified 4-wheel drives, cars with modified engines, Nissan Skyline, GR R34, GT R35, Classic Z, drag cars, Toyota Supra, and others. Visitors showed a keen interest in the rare collection and were greatly entertained by the show.

His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Communication, Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti opened QMS on 17 October under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. QMS is one of the leading exhibitions in Qatar. It has managed to strengthen its position as a platform of communication and interaction for international brands and their local agents on one hand and consumers and potential customers in Qatar and the region on the other. This year's edition was the first after QMS adopted a new format aimed at enriching content, promoting the concepts of innovation and sustainability, and raising the profile of the show on the international automotive exhibition agenda.
