The Ministry of Interior announced in a tweet that the Global Peace Index has ranked Qatar as the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Out of 163 countries, it has ranked 23rd as the most peaceful country in the world.

As per the ministry, Qatar has maintained its lead in the Middle East and North Africa over the past years, from 2019 to 2022, in the Global Peace Index. According to the Global Peace Index report, Qatar's lead confirms its high level of safety and security and low crime rate.

The Global Peace Index indicators include the level of safety and security in society, domestic and international conflict, and the degree of militarization of a country.

Qatar has ranked 9th in the world, in the indicator of the Safest and Most Societal Peaceful Countries, advancing by six places over the previous year. This makes Qatar one of the ten safest countries in the world.
