Qatar Meteorology Department: Cold spell to return Sunday

In its weather bulletin issued today, the Qatar Meteorology Department has reported that northwesterly fresh to strong wind is expected to return the country starting from Sunday (February 9) and reaching peak from Monday (February 10) until Wednesday (February 12) in association with a deepening high-pressure system over the region.

Wind speed is expected to range between 15 to 25 kt inshore gusting to 35 kt causing dusty conditions at times with poor visibility below 2 km in some areas. Wind gusts offshore is expected to reach more than 40 kt causing high waves exceeding to 10 ft. The northerly wind will be accompanied with a cold spell with maximum temperatures ranging between 14 to 18 C and minimums between 9 to 14C reaching below 9C in southern areas of the country. Qatar Meteorology Department also urges all to be cautious, to avoid all marine activities as well as to follow updates through it's official social media accounts.

However, a noticeable rise in temperature with maximums exceeding 30C in some areas is expected this Saturday (February 8) due to southerly wind.
