Qatar is the only GCC state likely to have a $2bn surplus budget in fiscal 2009, Al Sharq reports in today’s edition quoting a Gulf study announced by the Emirates Industrial Bank yesterday. The Gulf countries together will have $24bn less in their budgets this year. The total GCC surplus in 2008, according to the report, was $189bn.
