Qatar Jet Ski tournament: Red Bull Jet Duel hits Doha’s Corniche this Friday Doha, 28 March 2012, Red Bull Jet Duel, the adrenaline-fueled Jet Ski event, taking place on the glistening waters of Doha’s Corniche tomorrow, is set to be one of the biggest water sport events of the year. This first edition of Jet Duel on Friday, March 30th from 2:00pm-6:00pm will offer fans of the sport an exciting day filled with fierce competition as they cheer on competing Jet Skiers testing their skills on the especially designed water track. Red Bull event organizers selected Qatar as the prime location for Red Bull Jet Duel due to the overwhelming popularity of the sport; Jet Skiing is one of the most popular motor sports in the country, and the organizers are hoping that Jet Duel will offer a new twist to this much-loved sport. Red Bull Jet Duel consists of a number of elimination rounds, where speed and agility spell the difference between progressing to the next round and being eliminated as athletes race along the water track, twisting and turning their way to the finish line. The competition is made up of 32 competitors, in 16 teams, each team will consisting of two racers: racer A and racer B. The teams of two have to navigate a course made up of slaloms only 8 meters apart and a sprint around Old Palm Tree Island to capture the flag before slaloming back to the finish line, with the second team across the finish line immediately eliminated. With thousands of spectators expected to line the Corniche to take part in the excitement of Red Bull Jet Duel on Friday, this unique Jet Ski event is set to add a new twist to one of the country’s favorite sports. - ILQ news -
