Qatar, Japan to strengthen bilateral relationship

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani met on Wednesday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The two leaders discussed mutual relationship between two countries and means of strengthening them in all areas. They also discussed a set of other regional and international matters of mutual interests with emphasis on the latest updates in the region. A number ministers and officials from both sides were present at the talks. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Japanese premier Shinzo Abe witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), another MoU between QP and Chiyoda Corporation in training field and a third one on dialogue policy between Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Japanese counterpart. Two countries also agreed to widen the mutual partnership on infrastructure development in Qatar by encouraging Japanese companies to engage in projects with regard to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup which includes the building of stadiums, Doha Metro, desalination and waste water treatment projects and others. Both Qatar and Japan welcomed appreciable growth in bilateral cooperation in the political and economic fields. They expressed their intention to further enhance the comprehensive partnership towards stability and prosperity through updating the level of cooperation in various areas. Qatar welcomed Japan’s decision to simplify visa application procedures of ordinary passport holders. Japanese premier Shinzo Abe and his accompanying delegation reached Doha earlier Tuesday evening on a two-day official visit to the country. Source:Qatar Chronicle
