Qatar Nationals Hotels Company (QNH) and its affiliated units are gearing up to celebrate the country’s first National Sports Day to be held on February 14, 2012. “Having a National Sports Day to be celebrated by the whole country is a unique initiative and QNH is planning to take advantage of this opportunity by getting the employees at the headoffice and its units involved in specific activities to honour the occasion,” said Qatar Nationals Hotels Company CEO Hamad Abdulla al-Mulla. The activities planned by QNH on the occasion involve not only the employees at the main office but have been designed to gather associates from hotels under QNH’s umbrella, both as participants in the events and volunteers for organising them, thus strengthening the ties between the hotels and building the team spirit. The hotels owned and managed by QNH are Sharq Village & Spa Doha, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Doha Marriott Hotel, Movenpick Hotel Doha, Sealine Beach Resort, Merwebhotel Central Doha and Merwebhotel Al Sadd Doha. The Six Senses Spa is organising a marathon along the Corniche, with the starting point at the Movenpick Hotel Doha and finishing point at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. The activity is expected to be attended by employees from QNH properties and their families. Sealine Beach Resort is set to host several sports competitions within its premises. Beach football, beach volleyball and basketball championships among QNH hotels are expected to create excitement throughout the day, while Doha Marriott Hotel has offered to organise yoga classes within the facilities of Sealine Beach Resort. “We are looking forward to the first celebration of the National Sports Day and we are confident that, with the enthusiastic support of our hotels, we will make this day a memorable event” said Faruq Ahmed, human resources manager at QNH.
