Security personnel during a drill conducted jointly by Qatar and Bahrain near the northern village of Al Ruweis yesterday. Qatar’s preparedness for addressing emergency situations was put to the test during the drill as Al Ruweis “faced a threat from a leaking ship loaded with radioactive materials approaching the country’s territorial waters”. With radiation detectors being deployed across Qatar, an alarm was sent by coast guards to the National Control Centre which reported it immediately to the Permanent Emergency Committee.
