Football enthusiasts are once again invited to celebrate the spirit of competition by attending the Qatar Foundation − FC Barcelona (FCB) Fan Zone event tomorrow evening (April 23), where they will watch the much-anticipated Champions League semi-final first leg tie between FCB and Bayern Munich. Qatar Foundation’s partnership with FCB is dedicated to encouraging youth across the world to tap into their potential and passions through the pursuit of excellence within numerous fields, such as sports and education. Before settling down to watch a live screening of the big match, Fan Zone visitors will be given the opportunity to participate in a selection of fun-filled football-themed competitions. Visitors are encouraged to arrive as early as possible to the event, which kicks off at 8pm and will take place at Awsaj Academy’s football pitch. This time round, Fan Zone attendees will again be invited to enter a ‘Golden Goal’ contest where they attempt to guess the correct time of the last goal scored in the live game. The lucky contestant whose guess is closest to the right answer will win a set of tickets to Barcelona to watch FCB play a live game at Camp Nou. There will be a number of other giveaways for fans and snacks will be provided for all. At the last Qatar Foundation Fan Zone 25-year-old Ishak Thandankolil, from India, correctly guessed the time of the first goal and went home with two tickets, courtesy of Qatar Foundation. Another ecstatic contest winner is Lucia Domville from New York City who won the latest Qatar Foundation ‘Passion Drives Our World’ competition. Along with her eight-year-old son Martin, she will be watching the live game amidst all the fanfare at the Allianz Arena tomorrow. After the game, Mrs Domville and her young son, who is a massive FCB fan, will return with the FCB team to Barcelona where they will be given a tour of the famous Camp Nou stadium and FCB museum. Qatar Foundation’s partnership with FCB has succeeded in capturing the global community’s interest. Its Fan Zone always generates a heady atmosphere as hundreds of enthusiastic supporters come together to watch two top football teams battle it out. And tomorrow’s game is guaranteed to be action-packed, as it paves the way for the exhilarating prospect of a Champions League Final between FCB and Real Madrid, should both sides prevail.
