Qatar Foundation (QF) and The Economist Group (TEG) have teamed up to launch a competition to provide top students across Qatar a special three-week internship programme at TEG’s offices in New York City. The internship programme named the ‘Education Connections’ project, which will take place from August 10 to 31, aims at giving valuable and practical work experience to exceptional students at one of the world’s leading media groups. With the assistance of TEG’s event programming division, selected students will benefit from a comprehensive programme that will enable them to get involved in all aspects of media and event management. Interns will be given the opportunity to assist with a variety of tasks, including production of written pieces, research, as well as the creation of event agendas, speaker selection, and social media activities. Rashed Al Qurese, Qatar Foundation’s Deputy Director of Communication, urged all university students across the country to enter the competition and capitalise on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from media experts. He said: “The aim of this programme is to provide our most capable students with the benefit of receiving the highest quality of vocational training from reputable partners like The Economist Group. We want to engage our talented youth by encouraging their personal and professional growth in numerous areas.” To enter the competition, university students are required to answer the question, ‘How could you contribute to Qatar’s National Vision 2030?’ Essay answers should be in 250 and need to focus on any one of the four pillars of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 — Human Development, Social Development, Economic Development, and Environmental Development. All entries should be submitted in English, since the internship will take place in New York and the training will be in English. All responses have to be sent to: [email protected]. The competition closes on June 30, with the winners being announced on July 7 via website, Facebook and Twitter. Winners should be available to attend a student briefing session in Doha on July 18 and will travel to New York on August 10, returning on August 31. Source : Qatar Chronicle
