DOHA 12th July 2013: Qatar Exchange (QE) index extended its rally this week adding 47.80 points or 0.51 percent as the trading closed at 9,419.97 points yesterday. The market capitalisation rose by 0.38 percent to reach QR517.39bn as compared to QR515bn at the end of the previous week. Trading value dropped by 20.46 percent to reach to QR773m at the end of this week compared to previous week’s QR972m. Trading volume increased by 3.41 percent to reach over 20m shares as against 19m, while the number of transactions fell by 6.88 percent to reach 11,525 as compared to the previous week’s 12,377. Banks and financial services led the traded value this week with 32.06 percent of the total value. Industries accounted for 26.69 percent. Real estate accounted for 14.32 percent and consumer goods and services accounted for 11.11 percent. Banks and financial services also led the traded volume this week with 25.34 percent of the total volume. Real estate accounted for 23.10 percent. Consumer goods and services accounted for 14.60 percent and Telecoms accounted for 13.84 percent. Banks and financial services led the number of transactions with 33.53 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries accounted for 21.59 percent. Real estate accounted for 14.26 percent and consumer goods and services accounted for 13.48 percent. Of the 42 listed companies, 19 ended this week higher while 17 fell and six remained unchanged. Industries Qatar led the traded value this week with 20.99 percent of the total traded value. Qatar National Bank accounted for 10.65 percent while Barwa Real Estate accounted for 8.45 percent. The bourse added 87.08 points or 0.93 percent yesterday to advance to 9,419.97 points from 9,332.89 on Wednesday. The volume of the shares traded rose to 5m from the previous day’s 2m and the value of shares increased to QR247m from Wednesday’s QR111m. Among the top gainers were Qatar National Bank which was up 1.25 percent to QR161.50, Industries Qatar that rose 1.64 percent to QR161.40, Barwa Real Estate that gained 0.92 percent to QR27.35 and Al Meera up by 0.97 percent to QR135.00.
