Qatar enters the Guinness Book through the ‘See You in 2022’ art painting

The Police College yesterday entered the Guinness Book of World Records by creating a football model 'See You in 2022' that symbolises the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar with the participation of 10,371 citizens and residents painting 33,600 wooden pieces of mosaic.

The unveiling of the model was attended by the Director-General of the Public Security, Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi; Director-General of the Police College, Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhana Al Marri; the Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Hassan Al Thawadi, and representative from the Guinness Book, Paulina Sabenskaya at Darb Al Saai.

Paulina Sabenskaya, representative the Guinness Book of Records, announced the final number of participants in this work, which reached 10,371 participants in the colouring and installation of 33,600 wooden pieces of mosaic to enter the Guinness Book of Records in the name of the State of Qatar.

She also added that the previous number was only about 3,600 (in Australia), but Qatar has broken this number to reach more than 10,000 participants.

“I congratulate the Police College youth who have worked on this model to break the Guinness Book of World Records and who have provided us with an important thing and wish them more success in the coming years,” Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi said.

Responding to a question about Qatar’s security preparation to host the World Cup 2022, Al Khulaifi said: “The security preparations for the 2022 World Cup are 90 percent complete. The preparations were already ready and what was missing was the addition of some equipment only. All coordination and training are in place. We hope to be successful and host a distinguished world cup.”

Director-General of the Police College, Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhana Al Marri said: “The Police College participated for the third year in a row in Darb Al Saai’s activities. This reflects the community’s role in serving the citizens and residents.”

“For the second time, the State of Qatar enters the Guinness Book through the ‘See You in 2022’ art painting. And as Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said (in the name of all Arabs, Qatar welcomes all the world to the 2022 World Cup).”

Dr. Al Muhana added that the College received at its pavilion in Darb Al Saai the Excellencies the Sheikhs, Ministers and senior officials from inside and outside the country, as well as diplomats from the accredited embassies in the country, praising the participation of the senior visitors in the installation of the art painting together with the citizens and residents in order to raise the name of Qatar in all forums.

Major Fahad Saeed Al Subaie, Director of Training Department said: “The idea of accomplishing this work came from the moment when Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received the football at the end of the 2018 World Cup Russia and welcomed the world to attend the 2022 World Cup.”

Last year, the Police College entered Guinness World Records by the launching ‘Dignity Image’, portrait of H H the Amir, with the participation of 13,824 persons colouring it.
