Qatar Development Bank sponsors the Qatari pavilion in Gulfood 2014

Through its export arm Tasdeer, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) recently sponsored the participation of ten Qatari Companiesfrom the food and beverage industry in the Gulfood 2014 exhibition. The event took place in Dubai from February 23 – 27 2014.

The Qatari companies praised QDB/Tasdeer’s support for their participation in the show and facilitation of new business opportunities. They included Dandy Company Ltd, National Food Company (ZAD Holding), Qatar Flour Mills, National Food Company (Nafco), Qatar Food Factories, Colosseum Gelato, Qatar Meat Production Co, Agrico Organic Farms, Gulf Water Plant.

Mr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO of QDB, said: "Qatari participation in Gulfood demonstrates the development and diversification of our food industry, and its potential to compete on a regional and international level. Through Tasdeer, our aim is to enhance their position and expand it by identifying potential opportunities and offering the necessary data and insights about various markets.”

"We were keen in participating in Gulfood for the second consecutive year as it is one of the largest food exhibitions in the Middle East as it resulted in expanding business opportunities and business ties.” Al Khalifa added.

The Qatari pavilion had a modern feel and was strategically located to attract a large number of visitors. Gulfood 2014 is one of the world’s biggest annual exhibitions, providing a trade, sourcing and networking platform for companies in the food industry from as many as 88 countries. Informative conferences are organized during the four-day show, where attendees are provided with ample opportunities to learn about the latest business trends and new products.

More than 152 foreign country pavilions were also set up at the event, which was attended by over 70,000 qualified business visitors. Many professional chefs also took this opportunity to highlight their skills in front of a large audience.

Different varieties of food items, beverages, restaurant supplies, hospitality services and other related food equipment are exhibited by more than 4,500 firms.
