Qatar Classic Cars Contest and Exhibition 2020 was inaugurated at Porto Arabia Boardwalk in The Pearl-Qatar, and will continue until March 7. This event is held under the patronage of HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali and is organized by Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association in partnership with United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island.

The opening ceremony was attended by HE Chairman of the Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, UDC President Ibrahim and Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board Jassim Al Othman, and Vice-Chairman of the Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association Omar Alfardan.

About 50 luxury classic cars that fall into different historical categories, some of which dating back to 1925, will participate in the exhibition, where a specialized symposium under the title "Classic cars... A passion for the past and an investment for the future" will be organized, in addition to a competition to choose the best participating cars and honor their owners.

The exhibition seeks to encourage investment in classic cars, highlighting its history in Qatar, in addition to introducing the various stages that the classic car industry has gone through, and encouraging the hobby of acquiring classic cars. To this end, the exhibition will represent a tourist attraction and a valuable opportunity to enhance the role of the private sector in promoting tourism in the country in various sectors.

Hosting this event that brings together classic car enthusiasts and sheds light on the history of this hobby in Qatar, therefore positions The Pearl-Qatar as an iconic site that combines heritage and modernity in Qatar.

With this in mind, UDC is constantly endeavoring to provide a platform to support popular hobbies and host many events, including seasonal festivals and traditional celebrations that have proven to be very successful in attracting thousands of visitors to The Pearl-Qatar.

HE Chairman of the Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani expressed hope that the Qatar Classic Cars Contest and Exhibition 2020 will mark a new start for the classic car sector in the country, to advance this sector to the level of ambitions and hopes, especially as it has gained great attention from the classic car owners and fans in the Qatari society.
