Qatar Charity signs agreement with Kyrgyzstan to provide oxygen concentrators

Qatar Charity (QC) signed a cooperation agreement with the Embassy of Qatar in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Health of the country to provide 420 oxygen concentrators, aiming at supporting the country's fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The singing of the agreement took place in the presence of H.E. Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry Kalysbek Shadykhanov, and the director of Qatar Charity's office in the country, Engineer Hasan Ali Ovda.

The agreement comes within the framework of Qatar Charity's relief efforts aimed at limiting the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan where its office has carried out several relief interventions in the areas of health and food security.

"This assistance comes within the framework of strengthening relations between the two friendly countries, aiming at contributing to the efforts made by the Kyrgyz Republic in fighting the coronavirus," said H.E. Ambassador of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Abdullah Al Sulaiti in a press conference after the signing of the agreement.

He added that the State of Qatar, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, implements many humanitarian and development projects in Kyrgyzstan, which consist of building health centers, schools, and homes for the poor, as well as, economic empowerment, water and childcare projects.

For his part, Eng. Hassan Ali Ovda stated that Qatar Charity is implementing this project, which is worth more than QR 900,000, in cooperation with the Embassy of Qatar and the Ministry of Health in the country.

He further said that under the current agreement, 420 oxygen concentrators would be provided to help fight the coronavirus infection, pointing out that the procurement procedures have started and will be delivered during the current month.

At the end of the signing ceremony, the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry Kalysbek Shadykhanov thanked the Qatari government, people, and embassy in Kyrgyzstan, as well as Qatar Charity's office in the country for supporting the Kyrgyz people in these problematic circumstances.
