Qatar Central Bank confirms that what has been circulated on social media is incorrect, regarding the amendment of the maximum daily cash withdrawal through automatic teller machines. The false notice claimed the limit is reduced to QR 5,000 per day. The QCB confirmed in a statement on its website posted Saturday, November 28, that this information is unfounded.
The bank indicated that what was transmitted - according to a forged circular not issued by the bank - is nothing more than a rumor, pointing - in this context - to the stability of the state’s financial situation and the lack of financial liquidity being affected, which is not a cause for concern.
The bank stressed the need for accuracy and obtaining information from its source, not to transmit news and circulars issued by unknown parties or individuals and to stop circulating them, stressing that it maintains the legal right to sue those who broadcast this rumor and promoted it.
