Dr. Bashir Marzouq (the expert astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House) stated that on Friday morning (20 March 2020), the countries that fall in the northern hemisphere, including Qatar, will witness the occurrence of the phenomenon of the spring equinox, as the day and night are equal during this phenomenon to all countries of the globe. The situation will be the opposite for the countries that fall in the southern hemisphere, where the phenomenon of autumnal moderation will occur on the same day. This event marks the astronomical first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.

The phenomenon of spring equinox is one of the important astronomical phenomena, as it depends on (and on the rest of the four seasons) the inhabitants of the globe, to know climatic changes, in addition to that on this day, the directions of east and west can be determined with infinite precision at the time of sunrise and sunset, respectively, knowing that the sun is in This day, it will rise completely from the East Point, and set at the West Point completely.

It is worth noting that the four astronomical seasons (winter, spring, summer, autumn) occur as a result of the rotation of the earth in its orbit around the sun, in addition to the inclination of the earth's axis at the level of its orbit at an angle of 23.5 degrees.

Dr. Bashir Marzouq added that the length of day and night will be approximately equal to Qatar next Friday. It is thirty-five and thirty-nine in the morning, while the sun will set on this day from the skies of Qatar at 5:45 pm (Qatar standard time).

According to accurate astronomical calculations, the length of spring this year will be approximately 92 days, while the length of winter this year will be approximately 89 days.

The phenomenon of vernal equinox comes after the winter solstice that occurred on 22 December 2019 (Qatar Standard Date), where the apparent movement of the sun gradually started towards the north after the winter solstice day, and the apparent movement of the sun continued to approach the equator until the moment it completely perpendicular to it on the day of moderation Al Rubaie on Friday.

As is known, after the occurrence of the phenomenon of spring equinox, the sun will continue its apparent movement towards the north, so that the length of the day will increase, while the night will shorten until it reaches the longest day of the year on the 21 June, where the sun will completely perpendicular to the course of cancer in the northern half From the globe on this day, heralding the summer solstice for the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere.
