Qatar Cabinet approves draft law on regulating unmanned aircraft (drones)

H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

Following the meeting, H.E. Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi issued the following statement:

At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet was briefed by H.E. Minister of Public Health on the latest developments in efforts to curb Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic.

Unmanned aircraft/drones

One of the agenda during the weekly Cabinet meeting was the approval of draft law regulating unmanned aircraft.

The draft law has been prepared to regulate all activities related to drones in order to maintain the security and safety of air navigation in the country, protect lives and property, ensure the optimal use of these aircraft, in accordance with the best international standards and practices, reduce risks arising from the operation of drones, and define the responsibilities of the concerned authorities in this regard, and the regulation of the use of drones by various authorities.
