Qatar and Belarus yesterday signed an agreement for educational and scientific cooperation, and one for cultural cooperation, following official talks led by the Emir
H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The agreements were signed for Qatar by Minister of State for International Cooperation H E Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, and for Belarus by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Martynov and Minister of Industry Vladimir Matveychuk.
The Emir and the Belarusian president also witnessed the signing of an agreement for setting up of a joint committee of Qatar and Belarus. The agreement was signed for Qatar by the Minister of Business and Trade, H E Sheikh Fahd bin Jassem bin Mohamed Al Abdulrahman Al Thani, and for Belarus by Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov.
Yesterday’s talks were attended on the Qatari side by the Minister of Economy and Finance, H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal; the chief of the Emiri Diwan, H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud Al Thani; the Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs, H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada; the Minister of Business and Trade, H E Sheikh Fahd bin Jassem bin Mohamed Al Abdulrahman Al Thani; the Minister of State for International Cooperation, H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah; and the Director of the Emir’s office, H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The two sides reviewed ties of joint cooperation and discussed a set of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The Emir and the Belarus leader held a meeting prior to the official talks in the presence of the members of the Qatari delegation.
Earlier, the Emir was accorded a red-carpet reception upon his arrival at the presidential palace, where the Belarusian President and a number of ministers and senior officials welcomed him.
