“Valley City” project design for “SAK Holding Group”, one of Qatar’s leading companies in the Real Estate Sector, has won an award at the MIPIM Future Project Award Ceremony for the best “REGENERATION & MASTERPLANNING” category, which is one of the most important international architectural awards recognized regionally and globally as reported by Qatar Chronicle. Qatari companies stole the spotlights at the annual MIPIM Future Project Award Ceremony. This event is organized by “Architectural Review “, a renowned engineering magazine. Qatari companies topped 2 of 11 categories SAK Holding Group project, the “Valley City”, topped the “Regeneration & Master Planning” category, while Qatar Olympic Committee project, “Doha City Tennis Stadium”, topped the “Sport & Stadiums” category. Observers believe the results reflect international recognition of Qatar’s gigantic efforts to prepare to host the FIFA World Cup 2022. MIPIM Future Project Awards Ceremony held at the JW Marriott in the French city of Cannes on 13 March 7, 2013 is the Mecca of Real Estate Industry Top Leaders from all over the world. Competitions held during the event attract designs and plans prepared for creative architectural projects in foreign and Arab countries. The designs are all subject to a careful assessment process by a committee of international judges Paul Finch: Editorial Director, The Architectural Review & The Architects’ Journal Roger Zogolovitch: Architect and client, chairman of Solidspace Dr Sutherland Lyall: Author and critic, former Buildings Editor of the Architects’ Journal Peter Stewart: Architect and planning consultant, Principal, Peter Stewart Consultancy Taking part in an competition of this magnitude such as MIPIM” SAK Holding Group aimed to give its first project “Valley City” a special dimension, following the footsteps of many Arab, local and global real estate and engineering companies that won a long list of awards for mega construction projects, the most prominent of which, was “Musherib – Doha Land” that won in 2011 two awards, one for the “Multi Use Designs” category and another for the “Best Architectural Design” category. “Valley City” project received a Special Tribute from the Judges, they considered the project as a “consolidated architectural milestone”; and believed that the designs are highly creative showcasing elegant engineering and architectural details, that respond to the growing population basic and future needs and requirements. They also said that the designs adhere to Standards of Quality and Sustainability, Health and Safety that contribute positively and effectively in the Community’s development. “Valley City” Project to be built on an area of 3million square meters reflects SAK Holding Group future Strategy. Namely, to contribute in Qatar’s Real Estate Sector Development, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country’s unremitting efforts to prepare for hosting the FIFA World Cup2022. Sports are expected to play a key role during the coming years in the country’s economic, urban and cultural development, attracting many promising projects and foreign investments. “Valley City” project” is designed by MZ Architects – Lebanon. MZ Architects received the Retail and Leisure Award for the design of “Al Ain stadium” at MIPIM Future Project Awards ceremony 2012. The Valley City is expected will provide housing and a business integrated environment that stems from the project’s internal components and various facilities, and interface with its external surroundings, because the concept of the project is to build a city near one of the stadiums where the sporting events of the World Cup 2022 will be held. The project will include thousands of Residential Units divided into Houses and different sized Apartments and Villas of various areas, and a Resort attached to a four star Hotel, built over an area of 12 thousand square meters, and a 250,000 square meter Central Park, a 40,000 square meter Mall, and 20,000 square meters Markets, and a Cultural Village built over 20,000 square meters in addition to Business and Commercial Offices and Recreation Area and various facilities and Green Areas at different locations. SAK Holding Group Chairman, Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani dedicated this international prize awarded to “Valley City” project to H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar and H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir Apparent and his wise leadership, under which the country is forwarding towards higher levels of well-being. He expressed his happiness that “Valley City” project design won a regional and global accreditation, being the first project the Group plan to build in Qatar in the future.
