The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the opening of Al Oyoun Street in the Al Gharrafa area to traffic after developing and expanding the street to provide a direct link between Al Shamal Road and Thani Bin Jassim Street in coordination with the General Traffic Department.

The street will provide new access to Al Gharrafa, creating a better movement to the nearby commercial centers and stores such as Souq Al Gharrafa that will alleviate traffic pressure on Al Shamal Road

Ashghal also built a new signal junction to make easy access to traffic coming to Al Hateem St. & Al Gharrafa Rd and Izghawa & Gharrafat Al Rayyan towards Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, bypassing Al Shamal Road

Al Oyoun Street stretches for 1.3km and comprises two lanes in each direction to accommodate 4,388 vehicles/hr, along with new service roads to facilitate access to road users.

Al Oyoun Street is integrated with New Al Hateem Street built by Ashghal to provide an alternative route rather than Al Shamal Road between Izghawa and Al Gharafa towards Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and Umm Lekhba Interchange.
