“Let us endeavour to include our sisters in Gaza so that we can learn from their experiences, knowledge and desire to build a better future,” HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad said in her speech at the First Qatari-Turkish Workshop on Women and Development yesterday. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan was also present on the occasion. HH Sheikha Mozah observed that there was much that united Turkey and Qatar. “This is why we need to combine our efforts so that we can benefit mutually and invest our efforts and skills for the future,” she maintained. Earlier, HH Sheikha Mozah, the patron of the workshop, began her address by asserting that the Muslim woman was and would always be a strong basis in the formation not just of the family but also of society and the Ummah. In her address, Emine Erdogan thanked HH Sheikha Mozah for her initiative in organising the event. Emine Erdogan described the recent brutal aggression on the people of Gaza as a blot on the human conscience. “How can we address issues pertaining to the rights of women and children when so many have been brutally killed in Gaza?” she asked. “We are assembled here today to unanimously affirm our will to work for peace and mercy in the world. I feel very disturbed and upset when I remember the thousands of innocent souls that have been killed in Gaza recently,” she stated. Reported by Gulf Times
