Qatar and Germany sign renewable energy agreement

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani received at his residence in Berlin yesterday German Minister of Economy and Technology Rainer Bruederle and his accompanying delegation. Areas of co-operation between the two countries and ways to enhance them were reviewed during the meeting. Following the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Energy and Industry in Qatar and German Ministry of Economy and technology on scientific and technical co-operation in the areas of new and renewable energy. The two sides also signed the minutes of the second session of the Qatari-German joint Economic Committee, besides a letter of intent to open a German commercial office in Doha. The MoU, the minutes and the letter of intent were signed by HE the Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada, HE the Minister of Business and Trade Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz bin Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, and Minister of Economy and Technology Rainer Bruederle and the State Secretary Dr Berand Pfaffanbach. Later in the evening the Emir and HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad paid a visit to the Municipality of Berlin. They met the Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit. The two sides reviewed co-operation between the two countries and a number of issues of common interest. The meeting was attended by a number of members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir. After the meeting of the Emir and Sheikha Mozah along with Mayor of Berlin visited the Brandenburg Gate, to see this historical landmark which is one of the commemorative symbols in the German capital, Berlin.
