Qatar Airways’s outstanding levels of service won accolades at the glittering World Travel Awards in Dubai, recently. The travel industry’s Oscars-World Travel Awards - recognised Qatar Airways as Best Business Class Airline in the Middle East for the fourth consecutive year and the region’s Best Cabin Crew. Qatar Airways Executive Vice-President, Commercial, Ali Al Rais, collected the awards on behalf of the airline at the event attended over by more than 400 leading figures from across the regional and global travel industry. The awards coincided with Arabian Travel Market – the Middle East’s premier travel trade exhibition – taking place in Dubai this week. Akbar Al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways said the latest accolades demonstrated the airline’s commitment to delivering the best levels of service and that the company was building on its highly successful business model as a full-service global network airline. “Qatar Airways has proven it has made a tremendous mark in the regional and global aviation industry in the short few years the airline has been operating. Winning the Best Business Airline in the Middle East for the fourth year running is great news. We are extremely proud of our Business Class on regional and international routes, offering the most innovative premium services to our valued customers, over and above the competition,” he said. “With more than 90 nationalities, we have cabin crew drawn from different cultures and backgrounds, which makes our airline truly international to serve the needs of passengers from around the world. All credit to our employees across the airline for full dedication to the their job.” Qatar Airways won the honours from peers across the region’s travel and tourism industry who were polled for their votes. Last December, Qatar Airways scooped the award for the World’s Leading Business Class at the World Travel Awards grand finale ceremony in the Caribbean. Qatar Airways had recently won the Best Economy Class in the Middle East Award as voted by readers of Business Traveller Middle East magazine. In the same event, British Airways- the UK’s flagship carrier which operates daily flights from Doha to London Heathrow- was voted as the Best European Airline, for the eighth consecutive year. “In this tough trading environment, every airline is focussing on strengthening its premium proposition to remain profitable at a time when consumer confidence and demand for travel is falling. The award for eight consecutive years illustrates our long-standing commitment to provide our loyal business customers with industry-leading products and services at competitive prices,” said Seth Keida, British Airways’ Marketing Manager, Middle East. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=May2009&file=Local_News200905076711.xml
