A Qatar Airways A330 carrying 298 passengers and 14 crew was forced to make an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport after one of its engines caught fire - believed to come as a result of a bird strike.
All on board QR240 were able to evacuate the aircraft safely, according to a statement posted on the airline's official Facebook page:
The flight was bound to Doha's Hamad International Airport. A number of national and International news agencies posted reports on the incident, with some sharing images and footage of the jet with its engine apparently on fire.
