The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has set up a special team and deployed 100 additional workers to keep Doha Corniche neat and clean during Eid Al-Adha as it attracts crowds during festivities.

“A large number of people visits the Corniche, especially the areas between the building of the ministry and the Emir Diwan.

“A team of cleaners and foremen has been set up to ensure cleanliness and hygiene round-the-clock,” said Safar Mobarak Al-Shafi, Head, Public Cleaning Department at the ministry.

“Many cleaning workers equipped with necessary materials and tools have been deployed in public places, especially those attracting huge visitors such as the Corniche, public parks, beaches and picnic places.

“People are flocking to the beaches across the country starting from noon of the first day of Eid Al-Adha. The Sealine area and family beaches at Al Wakrah, Al Farkiya, Arida, Marih, Ras Matbakh, Al Ghariya and Fuwairit have become major places of attraction.

“The cleaners are leaving no stone unturned and exerting all efforts to keep these place tidy and clean. “Visitors are educated about the importance of cleanliness and given plastic bags for putting garbage rather than littering around,” Al-Shafi said.

The beaches are cleaned in two shifts — 4am to 11am and 2pm to 7pm. Some 400 garbage bins, including 120 for Eid Al-Adha, have been placed at the beaches.

The department is also focusing on sweeping roads and removing solid waste left during the maintenance of homes by citizens and expatriates ahead of Eid Al-Adha. (Source)
