Over 100 Filipinos from different organisations have volunteered their services for the upcoming Air Supply concert, probably the biggest musical show of the year. Organisers of the much-awaited one-night-only performance of the popular duo are gearing up for the upcoming show conducting an orientation and team building assembly for the volunteers at the Philippine School Doha Gym yesterday. “This meeting is very important not only in forming the different groups that would help out in ensuring the concert would be well organised but also in making sure they are ready for the job explaining to them the objectives of their teams,” said Eli Bermido, Head of Safety and Security. The volunteers would be assigned various tasks such as in ticket sales, as bus guides and concert ushers. Around a dozen buses would be made available for concert-goers at designated pick-up points such as Al Fardan, Lulu Hypermarket and Industrial Area. Bermido said based on experience in previous concerts, they want to ensure smooth flow of the show that’s why they were holding a series of meetings. Yesterday’s gathering, the second in the series, consisted of team building sessions, tasking, lay-out briefing and an ocular inspection of the venue. More meetings are on schedule to fine tune on the teams’ tasks prior to the scheduled concert on October 15 at the Qatar Foundation Ceremonial Court, according to Bermido. Meanwhile, with still two months to go before the concert brisk sales of tickets are being witnessed in all the over a dozen outlets all over the country. ‘Air Supply On Tour ‘09’ concert would benefit Reach Out To Asia and is sponsored by La Cigale, Cosmos, Pizza Inn, Virgin Megastore, and The Peninsula.
