The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, yesterday chaired a meeting of the organizing committee in charge of preparing for ‘Doha Capital of Arab Culture 2010’, with attendance of the ministry’s Secretary General Mubarak bin Nasser Al Khalifa. The meeting was also attended by Dr Hanan Qassab, the Secretary General of Damascus Capital of Arab Culture 2008, and Dr Nabil Ali, head of Qatar Project for the Promotion of Arabic Language, currently visiting Doha. The Minister of Culture expressed the committee’s will to be acquainted with the Arab countries’ experience with such events in order to provide a unique celebration without repetitive themes. Dr Hanan Qassab noted that Damascus Capital of Arab Culture 2008 included 350 events in 365 days along with theatrical performances and cultural evenings that were organized in a number of global cities, adding that the celebration had a positive political, cultural, moral and financial impact.
